Abstract
Background and Aim: The present research study investigated the effect of the flipped classroom teaching model on self-regulation skills and academic achievement of fourth-grade elementary female students in science. This quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design was conducted in Ahvaz during the 2023-2024 academic year.
Methods: The research population included all fourth-grade female students in Ahvaz, from which 40 were randomly selected and assigned to two 20-member experimental and control groups. The experimental group received instruction using the flipped classroom method for 8 weeks, while the control group received traditional instruction. Data were collected using the Academic Self-Regulation Questionnaire (ASRQ) and an academic achievement test. Data analysis was performed using descriptive and inferential statistics (multivariate analysis of covariance).
Results: The results showed that the flipped classroom method had a significant positive effect on improving self-regulation skills and academic achievement. The mean scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group in both variables.
Conclusion: These findings confirm the effectiveness of the flipped classroom method in elementary science education. It is suggested that teachers use this method as an effective strategy for teaching science. Further studies in different grades and subjects can help better understand the applications of this method.
