Comparison of Family Empowerment, Family Function and the Quality of Parent-child Relationship Among Normal and Gifted Students

Abstract
Background  and  Aim: The purpose of the present study was to compare the empowerment of the family, the functioning of the family and the quality of the parent-child relationship in normal and gifted students of Gonbadkavus city.
Methods: The present research method was comparative. The statistical population was all 2695 boys' first high school students of Gonbad Kavos city. A total of 234 people (117 students from regular schools and 117 students from gifted schools) were selected as the sample size using simple random sampling. In order to collect data, the standard questionnaires of Koren family empowerment  scale (1992), quality of parent-child relationship of Fine et al (1983) and family functioning of Epstein et al (1983) used. In order to analyze the data, multivariate analysis of variance was used by SPSS22.
Results: The results showed that the family empowerment and family function of normal students is better than that of gifted students. But the quality of the parent-child relationship of gifted students is better than normal students.
Conclusion: Based on the results of this research, it was determined that there is a difference between the empowerment of the family, the functioning of the family, and the quality of the parent-child relationship between gifted and normal students in Gonbad Kavus city.
