Abstract
Background and Aims: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of a mindfulness-based music therapy intervention in reducing impulsivity and enhancing self-control in children with hyperactivity. Method: The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test, post-test, and a control group. The statistical population consisted of hyperactive children aged 7 to 12 years who were selected using a convenience sampling method. Participants were divided into two groups: experimental and control. The data collection tool was the Connors Questionnaire, whose reliability and validity had been previously confirmed. The experimental group received ten sessions of music therapy combined with mindfulness exercises, while the control group did not receive any intervention. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical tests and multivariate analysis of covariance. Findings:The findings indicated that the mindfulness-based music therapy intervention significantly reduced impulsivity and improved self-control in hyperactive children. The results are consistent with previous research, indicating that the combination of music and mindfulness can regulate emotions and enhance attention in children. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that mindfulness-based music therapy can serve as a complementary approach to improve behavioral and psychological functioning in children with hyperactivity.
